Extramurs, the district just west of Ciutat Vella, seen through Arrancapins: a dense residential barrio between the avenues of Pérez Galdós and Fernando el Católico, about 15 minutes on foot from the Central Market (Mercado Central). It grew after the medieval walls came down in 1865 and keeps casas baratas, brick façades and an ordinary local rhythm.
